And what's he going to do when K-1 gives him the boot? He lost to Greco and k-1 management is pissed at his actions in and out of the ring during the Nakao fight. Now he has no leverage, more losses to mediocre figters, so now neither Pride nor the UFC wants him. He managed to Terrel Owens himself out of the big leagues right into career suicide.

Renoir's Color Mixing: "He always mixed his colors on the canvas. He was very careful to keep an impression of transparency in his picture throughout the different phases of the work ... he worked on the whole surface of his canvas [and] the motif gradually emerged from the seeming confusion, with each brushstroke." -- Jean Renoir

I personally believe that public education needs a true dedication to the cause through things like true economic investment (rather than punishing with one hand while siphoning money into the private sector with the other), and leadership by educators and researchers in the field (rather than politicians and business execs).

Dean Shareski recently wrote a related post about joy in education: "<a href="http://ideasandthoughts.org/2009/11/02/robbing-students-and-teachers-of-joy/" rel="nofollow">Robbing Students and Teachers of Joy</a>"

Thanks for the comment. I'm still hoping for change, but in the meantime, I hope your daughter can find some places to explore her interests inside the walls of school.

Why is it that there are so many who see these problems, and yet the slide into monotonous rigidity continues? I am looking for a way to help my daughter (14). Talented, intelligent, straight A student that hates school so much, she attempts to fake illnes 3 - 5 days a week to stay home. She used to enjoy learning...now she does the work to get the A's simply because she doesn't know how not to. I need an alternative to Public Education, before she is lost completely to the joys of learning & personal development.
