Dan and I are Having a Moment
Jan 28th, 2007 | By Eric Hoefler | Category: Education/LiteracyThis is exactly what’s great about blogging. Until a few days ago, I’d never heard of Dan Meyer. Now, thanks to my aggregator and the “edublogosphere” community, we’re in a pretty intense conversation about NCLB.
I hope others will join the conversation. It’s always easy to think you’re right when you’re the only one talking. When other voices join in, you get a chance to reconsider. I plan on not saying more about this issue for a while because I’m looking forward to hearing from others and doing some reconsidering.
I’ve posted an annotated response to Dan’s “Open Letter” as a Google Doc. Leave comments on this post or on Dan’s.
(Update: Dan’s response, and a graceful close to this particular discussion, which I found helpful, thought-provoking, and well worth the time and energy.)
